Big wins for Long Lead — but we need your help!
Hey there... Checking in with some big news and a huge thank you.
(First, everyone loves a good TL;DR, so here: Long Lead has been nominated for three Webby Awards, competing against news outlets including CNN, NBC, BBC, and Reuters. We need your help to stand out in this crowd. Vote for Long Lead to win a “People's Choice” Webby Award HERE.)
Last fall, Long Lead published its first multimedia feature, a gripping and immersive profile of Alenka Artnik, the world’s greatest female freediver. Written by Xan Rice with video by Daan Verhoeven, “The Depths She’ll Reach” recounts how she emerged from personal grief and family trauma to become one of the world's most elite athletes.
We’re incredibly grateful to Alenka for entrusting us with her story and equally thankful to you for reading and sharing it.
That’s why we're proud to announce this news: “The Depths She’ll Reach” has been nominated for some incredible awards!
First, this innovative web experience designed by Jacky Myint and Decimal Studios for Long Lead was shortlisted by the ADC Annual Awards for Publication Design. As a company founded on the principle that editorial, art, and design should be equal, we at Long Lead are honored that our work is being considered for a coveted ADC Cube.
In addition, Long Lead has been nominated in three categories for the Webby Awards, alongside some big peers in media. The idea behind Long Lead is that journalism produced without compromise by a relentlessly focused outfit can compete with the work produced at legacy outlets like CNN, BBC, and the Miami Herald.
These nominations are a testament to Long Lead’s quest for quality — but we need your help!
The Webbys are asking readers to vote for their favorite nominee for a “People’s Voice Award," and Long Lead needs all the votes it can get to help this small but mighty operation stand out.
